Thank you Brandon Twp. Firefighters!

Lt. Matt Bess has been with the Brandon Fire Dept for nearly 20 years.  “I don’t really know anyplace else,” says Bess. “I’ve been here all my life and just appreciate the ability to serve my neighbors.”

After receiving his degree in forestry from Michigan Technological University, Bess worked in the landscaping industry before attending classes to become a paid on-call firefighter for Brandon Fire Dept.  Eventually, he realized he liked firefighting better.

Lt. Bess is grateful for our rural area during the current pandemic.  “The virus has been spreading in very densely populated areas.” he says.  “To live in an area where we are all spread apart is why we have seen only 64 cases (at the time this article was approved by the dept.) in the 48462 zip code.  Yet, we still need to remain committed to wearing our masks to protect others… this a serious virus and needs to be taken seriously by each of us.”

We thank Lt. Bess for all he and the department do to keep our community safe!  Thank you, firefighters!
